Uhai Campaign

Art-Based Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Campaign 2022

Uhai Campaign

Art-based Suicide Prevention Campaign.

A semicolon is used to symbolize that life continued where it could have stopped due to suicide. September is suicide prevention month and we have teamed up with various artists to create awareness using poetry, storytelling and crafts throughout the month. Uhai (meaning life in Swahili) is a campaign to encourage artists and the community at large to hold onto life, to intentionally take care of those around us facing mental health strains and to remember that it is okay not to be okay.

Sekoya has partnered with craft artists to produce Uhai Collection, a handmade collection of products to help you remember to choose life or gift a friend needing that reminder. We are also supporting High On Poems, a poetry event happening later in September through a call for stories on suicide awareness and mental health.
